SELVANGIVELSE 2016PENDLER STATUS – SINGLE PERSON


If you are a single person and you work or have worked for a Norwegian employer, you need to submit your tax return to a local tax office. Single person who wishes to settle her tax in the pendler status has the right to deduct costs for sustenance, accommodation and flights but in order to do so this person must document those costs in detail. Below you will find all the necessary information about the documentation needed to make your tax settlement in this option.


List of documents:

  • Document Selvangivelse 2016/Skattemelding/Tax Return 2016 This document arrives in late March or early in the beginning of April. You haven’t received your tax return? Send only the PIN codes!
  • PIN codes for the Altinn/MinID system.
    You don’t have PIN codes? Order them here
  • Certificate of income and advanced paid tax, which says how much you we have earned in Norway in year 2016; Årsoppgave from NAV if a benefit was collected * excluding child benefit and care allowance
  • Monthly salary payment confirmations, for each month of work in Norway in year 2016 or a summary “lønnslipp” which summarizes the whole year
  • ATTENTION! You are allowed to pay up to 10 000 NOK for rent / electricity per year in cash than a written statement from your landlord will be needed in order to confirm it. If the amount exceeds 10 000 NOK per year, you need to submit confirmations such as bank transfer confirmations/payslips if you want this cost to be deducted.

    IF YOU WANT TO SETTLE AS A PENDLER AND YOURE STILL UNDER AGE 22 YOU NEED TO DOCUMENT:

  • Travels to Your home country to your parents at least once on 6 weeks (tickets/reservations/ boarding passes)
  • Your birth certificate (abridged copy not older than 2 ears)
  • An up-to date (issued in 2017) certificate about joint residency with your parents
  • IF YOU WANT TO SETTLE YOUR TAX AS A PENDLER BUT YOU ARE OLDER THAN 22 YEARS OF AGE AND YOU DONT HAVE A SELF CONAINED APARTMENT IN NORWAY YOU NEED TO DOCUMENT

  • travels to Your home country at least once on every 3 weeks
  • confirmation of owning a self-contained apartment in Your home country, whose area exceeds 30 square meters (per one person, and if the apartment is inhabited by more than one person, 20 square meters is required for each additional inhabitant above 15 years of age); the apartments has a assured access to running water and sewage system , and You have the access to the apartment 7 day a week in a 12 month period.
  • IN YEAR 2016 THE NORWEGIAN TAX OFFICE HAS TIGHTENED AND ITENSIFIED VERFICATION OF DOCUMENTATION WHICH IS ENCLOSED TO THE TAX RETURN. DUE TO THAT FACT COPIES OF ORIGINALLY ISSUED FOREIGN CERTIFICATES MUST TO BE ATTACHED TO THE TRANSLATIONS OF THOSE DOCUMENTS. WE ALSO REMIND YOU THAT ALL DOCUMENTS THAT ARE NOT ISSUED ON EU FORMS MUST BE TRANSLATED TO ENGLISH OR NORWEGIAN LANGUAGE
